Welcome

#welcome Everything here is a Markdown file. Type [[Wiki Links]] to connect ideas and they show up in Backlinks automatically.

Highlight what matters with amber marks, drop in tables and callouts, then flip a line into a flashcard with :: and let spaced repetition do the rest.

Your whole vault renders as an interactive graph — the more a note is linked, the brighter it glows.

A full knowledge base — not just a note editor

WYSIWYG editing over real files, with the connected-thinking tools power users reach for.

WYSIWYG over Markdown

Write visually — headings, tables, callouts, columns, code, math and diagrams — all saved as clean Markdown files you can read anywhere.

Wiki links & backlinks

Connect notes with [[links]]. Every note shows who links back, plus unlinked mentions you haven't connected yet.

Interactive graph

See your whole vault as a force-directed graph — global or local, filtered by tag, with color groups and a smooth 60fps layout even at scale.

Canvas boards

Spread notes, text, and web cards on an infinite whiteboard, group them into frames, and draw labeled arrows between ideas.

Flashcards & FSRS

Turn any line into a flashcard and study with a state-of-the-art FSRS-5 scheduler — with know-by dates, cram mode, and a per-deck forecast.

Import your vault

Bring in Obsidian, Notion, Evernote, or Apple Notes — links, attachments, and structure converted, so switching is a one-click move.

Your files. Your machine. No lock-in.

Vantanote never traps your notes in a proprietary format or someone else's cloud. Every note is a Markdown file in a folder you control — open it in any editor, back it up however you like, keep it forever.

Cloud sync is coming as an option, not a requirement — you'll choose exactly which notes and folders sync to which device, with your vault as the source of truth.

  • Plain Markdown on disk. Human-readable files, no database, works with every other tool.
  • Works fully offline. Everything runs on your Mac — no account required to write.
  • Version history built in. Automatic snapshots with a word-level diff and one-click restore.
  • Yours to leave. Export a note, publish a site, or just copy the folder. Never held hostage.
